This Privacy Policy explains how MarkPad (“we”, “our”, or “us”) handles user information.

1. Overview

MarkPad is designed with a local-first approach.

Currently:

  • No account registration is required
  • No cloud sync is provided
  • No iCloud sync is provided
  • No remote note storage is provided

Your notes are primarily stored locally on your own device.

2. Information We Collect

Information Stored Locally

MarkPad may store the following locally on your device:

  • Notes and markdown files
  • Application preferences
  • Window and editor settings
  • Backup files created by the app
  • Secure tab metadata

This information is generally not transmitted to our servers.

Purchase Information

For paid features and subscriptions, Apple may provide us limited transaction information, such as:

  • Purchase status
  • Subscription status
  • Anonymous transaction identifiers

We do not receive your full payment information.

3. Analytics and Diagnostics

At this time, MarkPad does not intentionally collect personal note content from users.

Future versions may include optional analytics or crash reporting features to improve app stability and usability.

If analytics are introduced in future releases, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

4. Local Data Security

MarkPad may use macOS security features such as:

  • Touch ID
  • System password authentication
  • Secure local storage APIs

However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure.

Users are responsible for:

  • Securing their own devices
  • Managing backups
  • Preventing unauthorized access

5. Exported Files

When you export notes or files using MarkPad, those files are managed by you and your operating system.

We are not responsible for:

  • Third-party access to exported files
  • Cloud services chosen by users
  • File sharing performed outside the app

6. Children’s Privacy

MarkPad is not specifically directed toward children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. International Users

MarkPad is available worldwide.

By using MarkPad, you understand that your local laws may differ from the laws governing our operations.
